Professional regulatory bodies

Health regulators in Namibia

Every doctor, dentist, pharmacist, nurse, allied health professional, psychologist and social worker in Namibia must be registered with the Health Professions Council of Namibia through one of its five boards. Use their e-registers to check a practitioner, or contact them to lodge a complaint.

Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA)

The Health Professions Council of Namibia registers and regulates health professionals through five professional boards, keeps public e-registers of registered practitioners, and investigates complaints from the public about a practitioner's conduct.

Each board registers its professions and keeps its own e-register.

Health facilities: Ministry of Health and Social Services

Private hospitals and health facilities in Namibia are governed by the Hospitals and Health Facilities Act, 1994 (Act 36 of 1994), administered by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Practitioners working in them are registered separately with the HPCNA boards.

How to check a health professional is registered

  1. Find the board for their profession above: for example, doctors and dentists are on the Medical and Dental Board.
  2. Open that board’s e-register on the HPCNA website and look up the practitioner by name or registration number.
  3. Check that their status is active and their category matches the service they offer, for example a specialist category for a specialist.
  4. If they are not listed, or you have a concern about their conduct, contact the HPCNA.

Nam Medical Pages is not part of the HPCNA or the Ministry. A listing on Nam Medical Pages does not mean a practitioner’s registration has been checked. Information from the bodies’ official websites, checked 28 October 2026.
